Island of Quattor Map| Made using Wonderdraft
I really don’t know what to say, but the release of this map means that Heavenly Bodies is inbound. Also Wonderdraft made this map so much better than it could have ever been.
Most of my day’s as a little kid where spent imagining silly character’s I could play with in my mind, of course I knew they weren’t real, but still they made me company, when I was a teenager, that ambition grew to imagining worlds that where full of unadulterated imagination and pure glee. Of course they were mostly silly things.
As I grew into a full fledge adult, that just never went away. And it builds up like an anxiety that never truly get’s it’s way, until it does. This is what lead me to create the world of Heavenly Bodies. From BlackWald to Summerfold, today we take a deep dive into the first island of Gliese.
The Island of Quattor.
I decided to name this island after world building, and finding out that there aren’t four elementai king’s for the whole of Gliese, but instead there are four elementai king’s per island. This is what lead to it’s name.
Let’s take a look at some of the city’s and towns.
Lordell Water City
Let’s start with Lordell, the city of Catalina, Lordell has two adjacent structures to it’s main inner city, outside of it, there’s the Mylene Castle, where the King Mylo and his family resides, Catalina is part of that family. The Lordell Castle Town is where import’s from other island’s first hit the merchant’s, here people accumulate and bid for the biggest’s catch. Turning from the Lordell City Port’s towards the west you’ll see.
The Sand Mountains
A high scrapping mountain scape, a natural formation that blocks the east side of Quattor from the West side, over time earth elementai’s sculpted a tunnel and now people can pass through. There are tree tunnels in total, one near the north, one near the south and one in the middle.
The first neutral city, here people live separate lives from those that dedicate their life’s to one specific elementai. Those seeking water for example would take lodging in Lordell. Because of this, their way of life is different. Neutral cities did away with the epigraph. Crystalness has one of the biggest crystals, located inside the city. It’s also the city closest to the lake.
Pro Fisherman and enthusiast’s alike go here for the sport, Mooburns is a big lake, and large creatures tend at the bottom, as how it can maintain it’s water supply year round? You’ll need to read the book to find out. 🙂 If you’re having trouble fishing, head to the Mooburns Fishing Help building, you’ll find a community of people ready to teach you all about the sport.
Summerfold Fire City
This is the city, it’s vibe is somewhat like New York, if New York had skyscrapers like medieval castle’s, walking the street’s of Summerfold has this palatable like feeling, like anything could happen by just turning the corner, people are always going about their lives, and using the Tram Train 24/7, everyone has a dream here, and everyone want’s to be someone, there’s never a dull moment. Those wishing to learn and master the elementai of fire, should head to this city. Although living here is not cheap. Summerfold is closest to the Ice Volcanic Area where chill wind’s hit it year round, there are a few nice day’s during summer, but don’t expect anyone to keep you warm, a perfect challenge for fire elementai’s.
Ice Volcanic Area
An uninhabitable part of the island, there’s a force field surrounding this part for a reason, you’ll need a very specific grounds for someone to give you a pass that disables the force field, but only for a quick moment, and be very prepared as it’s mountain terrain is hard to climb through. You’ll need full climbing gear. There are several post’s throughout the area, but you’ll need to find them and activate them, as they haven’t been touched in over 4800 years. (ref)
Serving as a place for monks to study, an orphanage and a bathhouse all in one place, this is the perfect place to go and relieve stress. The Monks teach classes to their student’s, and prepare them for the real world, as one they they will graduate and go out and live their life’s. This is also where Ramiel start’s her story.
Vertirion Earth City
Vertirion is an invite only city, earth elementai’s need to acknowledge your power for you to be able to enter. You might visit the building, but you’ll find nothing except a closed elevator that requires a sort of magical key-card to open, pre-registered by Vertirion and the Pastoral of Magic needed.
Vast ravines of water flow through the desert, there are several well’s that you might want to visit, but worry not the protection tower’s will keep you safe, that is unless you’re traveling using Sand Whales, then they’re unable to keep you safe, sorry about that. The Tower’s are fully automated.
A small town, once said to be the mining town, sadly that was soon discovered to be a bust, as the desert sea provides almost nothing, now only those abandoned by society get to live here. Living cost’s are low, and most of the land is considered part of the slums, there are one or two building’s that double as inn’s and restaurant’s, but only those looking to escape society or have been outcasted by it, come here. This is also where Rae start’s his story.
The Desert Sea
Is that sand? Flowing like water? If you travel towards the Vertirion Outlands, you’ll be able to see how the sand turns into water. Weird…
Don’t go to Quby, don’t work in Quby, don’t live in Quby, this is paradise on earth for those looking to refresh and be tourist’s in this part of the island, but those living here tend to small wages and hellish hours, this is true paradise on Gliese, until you see past it’s smoke and mirrors.
Valian Wind City
The biggest city by far in Gliese, everyone here lives happy lives, Wind elementai’s are strict, but never unjust. You’ll learn the art of wind blades, and teleportation spells that use wind magic. You’ll need to submit proper paperwork before you even start to consider going up the ranks. The Valian Army is strong and powerful, you don’t want to go against them. If you’re starting out, you’ll be given a house in the castle town, or in the boonies, away from the city itself. Go up the ranks and you might just get to live a lavish kind of life.
Crossquet Woods S
The Crossquet woods stand near the Valian Castle Town, small monster’s live here, but they won’t come out, don’t worry, the Valian crystal will protect you. Don’t go looking for them yourself though.
No one know’s about BlackWald, no one know’s where it is, no one really seems to care, hidden inside a lush forest, you’ll need to follow glowing spirit’s and a slow humming song, many say that it’s tone is beautiful and can even be heard outside of the forest. Standing in the western tower of Valian will also yield the same result. Don’t get lost, the forest will eat you up, and you’ll never be able to come out, fairies will take you prisoner and eat you from the outside in. At least that’s what tall tales from bards say.
People don’t want to go into the lost tower’s, not because it has monster’s, but because it has monster’s, a different kind though, robotic in nature, once said to be the mainline defense system for attacker’s coming through the the Red Sea of Passing, the Lost Tower’s, hold a self defense mechanism, hiding a vast treasure inside, you’ll need to clear all six tower’s and it’s defenses before reaching the treasure.
A small town, with un-passionate people, gloomy and depresses as if it was always raining on them, because of the cloud mountains Havenlyn get’s heavy snow during the winter, cold shower’s during spring, a little bit of sun during summer, and cold wind’s during fall, most of the time the sun is up, Havenlyn is covered in shadow because of the mountains. People here are depressed, yet they still go about their lives.
Even a smaller community that Havenlyn, they have interconnected crystals that protect them through their farmlands. Their way of life is even more simple. Forest start’s his story in the farmlands in between Dragonmedow and Insomnolence.
A small town, that mostly never sleeps, they also live off the land, nothing interesting happens in Insomnolence, except maybe purple patches that appear on the floor. But people mostly ignore them.
There’s an entrance to a cave system, surviving it, will lead you to another island, this is also where you’ll need to travel if you want to talk to the Pastoral of Magic.
And so be it, we have arrived to the end, I hope this little post will get you even more excited to read the book. Anyway, from me that’s all, remember to stay safe.
Calling Card | Artist: VodkaSmokesChemisstryI love how Vodka gave the illustration a feel as if it was a Trading Card Game, it inspired me too think of way I could turn this series with it’s lore and rules into a game you could play. A Heavenly Bodies TRPG.
The second illustration comes from a dear convention-goer friend, we met through mutual’s, and been friends ever since. Vodka is part of the LGBTQ, and wears her rainbow proudly.
This illustration is meant to represent the second prologue of the book, which is hidden away in the back. I’m so happy that she was able to represent my ideas in such a concrete and stylized way.
The details on the crystal are especially my favorites. while the ages of the natural law are written on the sides, the whole thing is placed in a framework of the elements. A big part of the series. Furthermore, it feels like this could even be arranged into a card game, with bottom text explaining what the card will do when you play it. But that’s only a far off dream, it would be interesting to do one though, as it would be a little bit of a challenge, as well as come up with new mechanics that haven’t been seen before to make the game interesting and fun.
Book Cover| Artist: Fares MaesMaes did such an amazing job with the cover, but it’s no wonder since he worked for other licenses such as WoTc, D&D and even Star Wars. I felt Heavenly Bodies to be up there with them, what I mean is Heavenly Bodies, in my mind, deserves the full product features. Movies, merchandise, the lot. Even if that never happens, I know at least that’s what this cover say’s about the series, about those who worked on it, and most importantly about me. I die with no regret’s. So, because of that, the first novel needs a cover that screams. EPIC, FANTASY + 4 ELEMENTS. (because of the story’s nature). Heavenly Bodies is who I am, it’s me as an author putting my heart and soul into words. Heavenly Bodies releases 06.12.20. (I am lucky enough to know Maes personally, if I didn’t I don’t think this cover would ever had happened.)
You can find Maes on facebook, where he post’s art and processes.
Follow the writer of Heavenly Bodies (me) on twitter.
Read a short lore introduction.
Heavenly Bodies releases 06.12.20 More Illustrations soon!
For the convention that happened last weekend, I did some potions and wrote some stories for them, here they are now in their completion, I hope you enjoy learning about these little guy’s. They are not related to any current or future projects. If I ever incorporate them into any of my meta, they will follow the rules set out here below.
Hope you enjoy. 😀
Hi there, it’s me FJ, once again asking a little bit of your time.
Like promised this week we dive deep into the second type of magic found in Gliese through the epigraph.
Elementai magic is the second oldest form of magic in Gliese.
But, before that we must first understand the belief’s and custom’s of the Ancient’s.
The Ancient Ones
The Ancient Races of Gliese were held together by belief’s of old one’s and god’s of unpronounced name’s, waking dreams, lunacy and dementia.
Now only known as the sleeping primordial, believed to hold slumber in the center of the observable universe. The Ancient’s adored and held in high regard the primordial one.
They used a runic writing system, that held great power, for spoken and written words were the only thing they needed for magic. Soon though they discovered, through the power of the crystal, elementai magic.
They were now able to control the four element’s, wind, water, earth and fire. But that was not enough for them, they took it even further, through the control of light and dark crystal they were able to find that they could control much more than four element’s, metals and gases like Hydrogen, Lithium, Thunder, Mind and even time itself, ancient’s were able to control what we know as the periodic element’s. Because of their ego and power, they deemed themselves god’s and opposed anyone who said otherwise.
Their ego demanded control, but their id made them fight against themselves.
This is what started the The First Dismal Cataclysm an all out war between the ancient’s, they annihilated themselves, now only the giant’s of souls and a race commonly known as the Horned Humans, towering like giant’s that serve as the architects of Gliese, and their writing system is what remains of the ancient’s.
Written and spoken language
Their runic system, colloquially known as common language, they’re runes that are hard to read, and can signify something when pointed north, and something else when pointed south. That’s why scholars of Gliese developed two scripts that are written above the runes to allow for easy reading. These writing system is commonly used by children and teenagers, the scripts affect how they speak, so children usually speak of themselves in 3rd person, by the time they reach teenage years, they outgrow this, and learn a new script that more closely resembles common language, these two glyph system do not hold the magical property of the cardinal system that runes have.
“A spell is free’d to Gaia”
Elementai magic is commonly used throughout Gliese, defense and elementai magic are property of the people, proficiency’s has to be paid for. The pastoral of magic sealed away text’s of elementai magic being able to control more than the four elements, now only whisper’s and rumors remain of what once was, a legend carried by the wind’s breath states that there exist’s a fifth element, but such thing is only folklore.
An elementai user can have more than one element under very special circumstances.
How does it work?
Fire elementai’s ignite particles from the air and create fire, bending it to their will, attackers of the party.
Water elementai are only able to bend water if it’s physically in the room, healers of the party.
Earth elementai’s have strict rules when and how to use their element, but can use the roots of a tree to attack if they wish to do so, tanks of a party.
Wind elementai’s can conjure powerful winds, while also creating wind blades to protect themselves, rouges of the party.
Elementai magic has a weakness and it’s the other elements, usually seen as a circle that eats itself.
WATER – FIRE – EARTH – AIR (REPEAT)
And well that’s all I have for this week, next weekend we’ll dive deep into cost’s and the different proficiency’s that have been laid out as of Heavenly Bodies v1.0.3.
Heavenly Bodies will release at version 1.0.5, please continue to look forward to it’s 2020 release, more info soon!
Hi guys, my name is FJ and I have a book coming out this year, titled Heavenly Bodies!
I wanted to take a little bit of your time to tell you a bit more about it, today we are diving into the main character’s.
There are four MC’s in this series, and two supporting MC’s who are equally important.
We follow Rae Formeen, Catalina Mylo Mylene, Forest Cros Stone, and Ramiel An Ama
Rae is the spunky guy, he’s always looking for way’s to have fun and be mischievous, which can get him in a lot of trouble. He thinks about himself a lot, but when his friends are in danger, he’s the first one to jump into battle. He holds those that are dear to him like family. He’s a keen fire elementai, even though he was born and raised as a beggar. Rae is my personal favorite, but don’t tell anyone.
Catalina is little bit more on the quiet side, she can be naive at times, and not be able to express her feelings correctly, or in a way that might satisfy other’s. But she buries her nose in books, more than she should. She has 4 sister’s and lives in the castle of Lordell, the city of water, it’s to the South of the island of Quattor, the city is located in the beaches of the Purple Mediterranean Sea, she’s a princess to King Mylo. Catalina is a keen water elementai since birth.
Forest, a semi brown skin boy, he lives NorthWest of Quattor, in the outskirts of Dragonmedow, a neutral city, he doesn’t quite reach the outlands though. Forest is by birth deaf, but he’s still able to use magic through sign language, and there are many magic technologies that only appear when needed, and make his life just a little bit easier.
For example: At the dinner table. How do they deal with his parent’s using fork’s and knives and talking at the same time? They can’t use sign’s to talk to Forest while they eat, right? These is quickly addressed through magic. (I don’t wanna spoil it)
He’s is studios to a fault and has always been homeschooled, quickly surpassing his teacher’s, now his brother who lives a city over, in Insomnolence, also a neutral city, is his main tutor. Forest is a keen earth elementai, since birth.
Ramiel is a feisty one, she has dark skin and 4C natural, luscious, beautiful, hair, she deals with shrinkage every day! She was born to a family of nomads who were later adopted into a monastery, now Ramiel lives her life tending to the needs of the monks, and submitting to her father’s ruling, even though she show’s clear mastery of her wind elementai. Ramiel hates to loose a fight, and know’s how to defense herself if need be. She’s relentless to a fault. Her emotional intelligence skyrocket’s through the roof, she’s constantly thinking about what she’s going to say next, and how will it affect those around her, because of this from the very beginning, she hates Rae with deep disgust.
There are two more MC’s
The son of the sun.
The son of the moon.
Each of them have their own backstories and emotional baggage that you’ll encounter as you read this entry into the series, and future entires as well.
The son of the sun want’s to change things, go against the grain, and change the way things are done in the Island’s of Gliese.
Meanwhile the son of the moon knows that there’s no changing the way’s of men, especially the way’s of king’s and gods, he play’s a more passive role in the story, but eventually his story does intertwine with one of the elementai’s, who I’m keeping a secret. But most importantly his story is heavily correlated to the son of the sun.
And that’s all I can say because if I say anything else I will be spoiling key plot points for this and future books. For now I’ll leave you with this.
Thank you for stopping by, I will be revealing more information about HB as the month’s go by.
A release date you ask? Sometime before the middle of the year…
Come back next friday for more reveals! 😀
